Move it or Lose it Class member, Elizabeth, in the spotlight

This month we caught up with MioLi club member Elizabeth Berry who, as well as being a club member, attends MioLi classes in Greenock where she is one of the most regular participants. Here’s what Elizabeth had to say.

Why did you join the MioLi club?
I was approached by Fiona (Move it or Lose it instructor) in the town centre and it sounded like a way to keep the years at bay.

Have you got any hobbies?
Mostly hand crafts, knitting, cross stitch. Walking, sightseeing, I’m a member of National Trust for Scotland.

What’s the most exciting thing you’ve ever done?
I climbed Sydney Harbour Bridge when I visited Australia on retirement. I’ve also walked the West Highland Way on three occasions (when younger).

What’s your guilty pleasure?
Probably chocolate or crisps.

What advice would you give to your younger self?
Enjoy yourself now, it is not much fun getting older. I have had a stroke and the exercises at the class have proved very helpful.

What one piece of advice would you give to your grandchildren?
Be nice and help others. Remember you won’t be young for ever and you might need help.

Instructor Fiona Bretherton added “Elizabeth has bounced back from her stroke really well. She’s back in class and standing for some of the exercises, I’m really proud of her grit and determination”.
