Move it or Lose it Instructor, Kim, in the spotlight

This month we had a catch up with one of our newer instructors, Kimberley Weston, who runs her classes at various locations in Surrey. We asked Kimberley a few questions and here’s what she had to say.

How did you find out about the FABS course?
Through Google

What did you do before becoming a Move it or Lose it instructor?
Most of my career has been working as a PA for Execs of companies but I also worked as a Carer for quite a while part-time, helping people to stay living at home for as long as possible. This was my favourite job.

What made you want to do the FABS course?
I had my daughter who is now 3 and my circumstances changed drastically, becoming a single mother when she was 1.
I was struggling majorly with starting from scratch and having lost everything and I knew that there was only one way I could go – UP!
I had some incredible support including a Life Coach called Clare who helped me realise what was important to me and what my strengths and core values were. This led to me to knowing I wanted to help older people stay independent and social and use my passion for having fun whilst exercising.
I found Move it or Lose it and knew immediately that it was where I belong.

What do you love most about being an instructor?
Creating fun routines to great music.
Meeting lots of incredible people who have become such wonderful friends to me and to each other and hearing them say how much they enjoy the class and that it has made a difference to their daily life. Helping people to have fun while keeping fit.

Have you had any funny moments in your classes?
Not so much a funny moment but I created a saying that we now always go by which is to “remember ‘WOW – not OW’! I always say to my class members – if you can feel your body and muscles working then that’s WOW – but if you’re in pain at all and uncomfortable – that’s your body telling you to stop and sit that one out.  That’s ‘Ow’. They like that 😊

What would you say to anyone thinking about doing the FABS course and becoming an instructor?
Do it! The course was just fab and easy to follow and all deadlines and timescales explained well. The 2 practical days were so well organised and explained and I met such lovely people. The support is just great and you feel like you’ve made all these lovely friends who cheer you on and we all support each other still on our instructor Facebook page. This job is 100% the best job I’ve ever had. I love the freedom of running my own business and the diversity it brings. I look forward to every day I get to teach and I get a bit sad on the weekend that I’ve got 2 days of no classes.

What are your hobbies?
Step aerobics, swimming, being by the sea, long walks, cooking, music and having fun days out with my daughter.

What is your favourite food?
Fish.

What is your favourite TV programme?
Call the Midwife.

What is your guilty pleasure?
Watching ‘Four in a Bed’ and eating Maltesers.
