Description
Gain the confidence to support one of the most common conditions affecting older adults in your classes. Arthritis can affect much more than joints. It can influence pain, stiffness, grip, balance, confidence, mood, independence and the ability to carry out everyday tasks. Many class members may be living with arthritis, whether they have spoken about it openly or not.
This practical CPD helps instructors understand how arthritis can affect movement and participation in class, and how to adapt exercises so class members feel supported, included and able to keep moving.
You’ll explore different types of arthritis, common symptoms, flare-ups, fatigue, pain management and the importance of regular, appropriate movement. The session will also include immersive learning experiences, such as wearing gloves to understand how difficult everyday tasks like doing up buttons can become when hand function and joint movement are affected.
This CPD is ideal for instructors who want to better understand the lived experience of arthritis and feel more confident supporting class members to move safely, comfortably and positively.
