Description
Help class members prepare for surgery, rebuild confidence and return to movement safely.
Hip and knee replacements are common among older adults, and instructors may often support class members who are waiting for surgery or returning to class after their operation. This practical CPD helps you understand how appropriate exercise can support strength, mobility, balance and confidence before surgery, and how to help people ease back into movement once they have been signed off as safe to exercise.
You’ll explore the key considerations around hip and knee replacement, including common movement restrictions, pain, swelling, confidence, gait, balance, muscle strength and fear of doing too much. The focus is on staying within scope while giving instructors the confidence to adapt exercises, offer suitable options and support a safe, gradual return to class participation.
This CPD is ideal for instructors who want to feel more confident helping class members maintain independence before surgery and regain movement confidence afterwards.
