Understanding Parkinson’s Practical CPD

Course Description.

This CPD will give you a greater understanding of Parkinson’s Disease and how the symptoms affect movement and general health.

You will also learn how to adapt exercises for people in the different stages of the disease so they can gain maximum benefit from participating in group exercise classes.

The aims of the CPD are to:

• Improve your understanding of Parkinson’s Disease
• Improve your understanding of the effects of Parkinson’s Disease
• Know how to adapt exercises to suit clients with Parkinson’s Disease
• Improve your knowledge and confidence to ensure you work within your scope of practice and know when to refer to a health professional for further information or support

The afternoon session will be practical, looking at ways to progress, regress and adapt exercises for individuals with Parkinson’s in your classes. You will be asked to demonstrate exercises individually and as part of a group, although this is not formal assessment, we do encourage observation and peer support.

Please ensure you wear appropriate clothing and footwear to participate – trainers are recommended.

CPD Dates: 

Online – Saturday 13th July 2024

Online – Saturday 12th October 2024

The training day is 10am-4pm. 

For the online CPD day, we will use Zoom (please check your system requirements here) to deliver these CPDs so you will require a stable internet connection. Please read the requirements for completing your practical CPD online here. By booking an online date, you’re accepting you will meet the requirements outlined.
