This report is based on the experiences of 3228 people.
So what is osteoporosis?
It’s a condition that affects around 3 million people in the UK and leads to bones becoming fragile and breaking easily.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][mk_padding_divider size=”40″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][mk_highlight text=”Did you know half of women and one in 5 men over 50 will break a bone due to poor bone health? Yet, the report finds that only 22% of people with osteoporosis believe the NHS gives it the attention it warrants. ” text_color=”#ffffff” font_family=”none”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][mk_padding_divider size=”40″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text disable_pattern=”true” align=”left” margin_bottom=”0″]Unfortunately, osteoporosis is often perceived as an inevitable consequence of ageing and thus a condition to be expected and endured in later life. For many, living with the condition also means living with pain. In fact, 42% of the people they spoke to who’ve experienced fractures are in long-term pain which they don’t believe will ever go away. Only half of these people report using pain medication to effectively manage it.
Osteoporosis can also drastically effect someone’s level of independence. Fractures, pain and the fear of breaking a bone from a fall can stop people from doing the things they love and threaten their quality of life. 1 in 3 who’ve had fractures experience difficulties with everyday chores meaning they find it much harder to take care of themselves. Every necessities can, eventually, become impossible. People then rely on the care of their loved ones, modify their homes, seek extra support or move into residential or nursing homes.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][mk_padding_divider size=”40″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][mk_highlight text=”We all know the worst thing anyone can do is become inactive and sedentary. Yet, half of all those who suffer a fracture reduce or simply give up with exercise. But there is hope! There are simple changes you can make to manage the condition. ” text_color=”#ffffff” font_family=”none”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][mk_padding_divider size=”40″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text disable_pattern=”true” align=”left” margin_bottom=”0″]Move it!
