Would you like to be a FABS instructor?

We can give you all the training, support and equipment you need to work with the fastest growing demographic in the UK.

The FABS training programme has been developed in partnership with the Centre for Healthy Ageing Research at University of Birmingham. With our blended approach of online learning and practical training, we’ve made it as easy as possible for you to fly through the FABS programme and become a specialist fitness instructor for the over 60s. We’ll train you to teach chair-based exercise and free-standing exercises, widening your scope of practice and enabling you to work with the over 60s, the fastest growing demographic in the UK.

Once you’ve completed the training, you can work the hours you choose in a variety of settings such as community and leisure centres, church halls, assisted living, residential homes or day centres.

You’re your own boss and all the money you earn, you keep. How much you earn depends on how many sessions you choose to run! Typically, if you take a community class with 15 people paying £4 then you would earn £60, minus the venue hire. Instructors usually run between 10 and 15 classes a week.

“I’m really pleased I took the plunge and the best job satisfaction is when you see how much people benefit from the sessions: having fun together, becoming stronger and more confident than when they first walked through the door. It has enabled me to fit family life around the most fun and rewarding job and I wouldn’t change it for the world!” Sue, West Midlands
